Principles for purchasing materials
-
Supporting all activities
We support all aspects of Absalon's activities, including basic education, continuing education, training and research and development activities.
-
Focus on research-based literature
A primary focus is to ensure access to research-based literature, which is crucial for research and development at the institution.
-
Digital Collection
The library is committed to developing and maintaining a digital material collection that is available at biblioteket.pha.dk. The library is responsible for purchasing digital materials, which emphasizes the library's responsibility to purchase and make digital content available to users.
-
Globalization in procurement
The library contributes to the internationalization of Absalon by purchasing in Danish, Nordic and English. This strengthens the institution's global perspective.
-
Dialogue and user involvement
We stay up to date on new publications, education and research areas and prioritize the dialogue with educators, students and researchers. We encourage our users to submit purchase requests, which we evaluate in relation to our existing collection and financial framework.
-
Circulation of materials
Printed materials are distributed in different campus but form a single collection. The materials circulate between campus libraries according to our internal circulation scheme. There is collaboration and coordination between campus libraries on the purchase of materials.
-
Balance between supply and demand
The library strives to maintain a balance between supply and demand, but recognizes that longer wait times may occur for materials in high demand.
-
Quality control and ongoing adjustment
The library continuously adapts its collection in accordance with user needs and ensures currency and relevance, by discarding obsolete and worn-out materials as well as surplus copies and old editions. Discarded materials are offered to employees and students.
-
Participation in Interlibrary loan
The library actively participates in the national Interlibraryloan collaboration, which gives students and staff access to materials from other libraries, both nationally and internationally.
-
Flexible material acquisition
The library continuously assesses whether it is most appropriate to purchase or obtain materials from other libraries, ensuring efficient resource utilization
-
The library as a provider and borrower
In addition to lending materials to users, the library also lends materials to other libraries, contributing to the sharing and exchange of resources both nationally and internationally.
